As part of a collaboration with the Swiss Post, a group of Visual Communication bachelor's degree students were competing to design a special issue stamp centered around the theme of «Letter vs. e-mail». The winning design, the SELFIE stamp, was released in September 2017 and over one million copies were made available for purchase in all Post offices.

To convey the theme, I drew inspiration from the contrasting properties of a physical letter versus a digital e-mail. I wanted to merge the qualities of both mediums by creating a tangible representation of a digital phenomenon: the selfie. By transforming a contemporary means of digital communication into a tangible object, I sought to highlight the ongoing dialogue between the virtual and physical worlds. Given the stamp's limited size, I used the full canvas of the stamp sheet to replicate the look of a tablet screen with a built-in camera. The design was printed on a reflective paper, and when held in one's hand, it creates the illusion of taking a selfie. Beyond designing the stamp sheet itself, I also developed a first-day cover and a corresponding date-of-issue seal that seamlessly interact with the SELFIE stamp and further emphasize the underlying theme.
